Hialeah, FL (ABF) – ABF Academy Hialeah began its foray into football during the 2023-2024 academic year, and the Cowboys’ inaugural season proved to be a formative experience for the young athletic program. Entering 2024, however, the Varsity Football Team is setting its sights on establishing a new foundation.
ABF Football’s fresh start began with the appointment of Ramces Auguste to the position of Head Football Coach in late-February. Despite being the third head coach in as many years for ABF Hialeah, Auguste, affectionately referred to as “Coach Ram”, spearheaded ABF’s efforts to breathe new life into the football program and establish a culture of discipline, accountability, and excellence both on the field and in the classroom. “ABF’s inaugural season provided them with the opportunity to participate in football, but [Manny Riera] made it clear to me that they had much loftier goals for the program,” said Auguste. “When I got into the building, it became clear to me that any pursuit of those goals would require an extensive rebuild of the program’s culture first.”
Auguste’s focus on culture establishment started with the assembly of a brand new support staff that possessed the same vision for the program’s future: Danny Snipes Jr., Offensive Coordinator; Joseph Casimir, Defensive Coordinator; Roderick Delaney, Offensive Line Coach; Naresh Cooper, Quarterbacks Coach; Quantravious Martin, Defensive Backs Coach; Stacy Shaw, Defensive line Coach. “I’m really excited about the group of coaches we’ve assembled here in Hialeah,” exclaimed Coach Auguste. “It’s the perfect mix of experienced coaches, former state champions, and youth…all of whom have deep roots in the South Florida football community.”
Coach Ramces and hist staff immediately got to work forging the new-look Cowboys football team with a summer-long boot camp and workout regimen that was designed to put the student-athletes through their paces. In addition to instilling football technique and schemes, the coaching staff placed just as much emphasis, if not more, on instilling discipline and organization. “The shift in behavior and discipline was night and day,” stated Manny Riera, Co Owner and Chief Academic Officer. “Coach Ramces and his staff did a tremendous job putting together a group of kids that are not only talented football players but have quickly morphed into exceptional young men. I think that’s why there’s so much excitement surrounding the Cowboys right now.”
The Cowboys are set to play a 9 game schedule, including matchups against FIFC conference foes Coral Shores, Palmer Trinity, Florida Christian, and Somerset Academy South to name a few. With just days remaining before the Cowboys kickoff the season against conference opponent Palm Glades Prep Academy on August 23rd, the excitement for a fresh start is reaching a fever pitch. “We’re eager to showcase what we’ve got against a handful of South Florida’s storied programs,” said Coach Ramces. “Win or lose, we firmly believe that our efforts this year will set a proper foundation for many years to come.”
ABF Academy Hialeah will kickoff the 2024 season against Palm Glades Prep Academy on August 23, 2024, at 7:00 PM.
